Jamie Azevedo- Fine Art Photographer

most recent black and white.jpg

Being born with an artistic temperament, I spent the first 33 years of my life using acting as a form of creative expression. It wasn't until I met my husband, and borrowed his old film Minolta that I abandoned the stage for the hypnotic click of the camera.  I discovered that image making was a wonderful way to start a conversation, which as a creature of the south is my favorite pastime. There is nothing more joyful than a mind-bending conversation that inspires one to see the world in a more enlightened way. And that is the purpose of my photographs. To start a compelling conversation.

For over a decade, I've been working as a fine art photographer and am mostly self-taught. I've been honored to receive artist grants from the Bush Foundation and The North Dakota Council on the Arts which afforded me the opportunity to grow as an artist through attending residencies and workshops. My work has been published and shown in galleries in the United States and Europe.  Currently, home is Savannah, Georgia.
